

Charlotte Celine Janik, 97, of Richmond, Illinois passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026. Charlotte was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 16, 1928, to Walter and Bernice Tobolski. In 1946, Charlotte graduated from Lourdes High School. Just two years later, on September 4th, 1948, she married the love of her life, her sailor, Stanley Janik Jr. Charlotte was an avid reader who found great joy in books and lifelong learning. She possessed a deep appreciation for her family and her Polish heritage. She took great pride in her home and the lives of those around her with equal care and tenderness.
Above all, Charlotte was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, a proud mother, an affectionate grandmother, and a beloved aunt whose love and kindness enriched the lives of all her family members. She will be remembered for her compassion, wisdom, and steadfast dedication to family. Her presence brought comfort and strength to those around her, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Charlotte is survived by her sons, Charles (Susan) Janik, Craig (Alberta) Janik, and Cletus (Julie) Janik; grandchildren, Katie, Luke, Colette, and Cade; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Janik Jr.; parents, Walter and Bernice Tobolski; siblings Eugene (Genevieve) Tobolski, Domicelle (Louis) Dzialowy, Dr. Telesfor (Irene) Tobolski, and Aurelia (Edward) Kmiec.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 12pm at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home (500 W. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014). Concluding the funeral service, Charlotte will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Richmond, Illinois.
