

She was born in Chicago and grew up in Libertyville. She married Brooks in 1950 and raised her family in Lake Forest.
She spent many years working with her husband at Smiths’ Men’s Store and later graduated from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. Jackie’s life was full of family, friends and adventures. She was an avid reader and always wanting to learn more.
In the early 1970’s, she and Brooks spearheaded the effort to save Gorton School – transforming it into the Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest. She later served as its first Executive Director.
Her impact on the community was felt through her work with the Deerpath Art League, Executive Service Corp of Chicago, North Shore Senior Center, Connections and Lake County PADS. She was active in the Lake Forest Playreaders Group and a huge supporter of all things musical and the theater arts.
She was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by 3 children: E. Brook Rosberg (John), Jameson S. Butler (Gary Bogolin) and W. S. Dougall Smith (Virginia), 6 grandchildren: E. Lindsay Terry (David), Sean L Bogolin (Tami), Caitlin G. Rosberg (Jesse Ward), Mitchell Smith (Darcy), Samuel Smith and Edward Smith and 6 great-grandchildren: Emma, Jace, Zoe, Liam, Elke and Leo.
