Robert was born December 18, 1928 in Tower Hill, IL to Ezra and Bessie (Blades) Rueff. On February 11, 1951, he married Mary Gladys Hickey in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Army/Air Force. He was employed by Illinois Tool Works in Elgin for over 37 years until his retirement in 1985. Robert was a member of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge in Elgin, as well as St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 72 years Mary Gladys Rueff; his children, Margaret Sattler, John (Joan) Rueff, Patricia Fredrick, Patrick (Suzanne) Rueff, Jim (Sandra) Rueff; his 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jerry Rueff and his siblings, Kenneth, Mary, Reba, John, Walter, and Paul.
There will be a visitation from 4 to 7pm on Wednesday, July 12 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday, July 13 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
Interment will follow in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
