Mr. Erskine Patrick Wood

Funeral Services for Mr. Erskine Patrick Wood, age 90 of Cullman, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Faith Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cullman City Cemetery, with Dr. Jeff Steele officiating. Mr. Wood will lie-in-state at the church from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Mr. Wood was born on November 8, 1921 in Lynn’s Crossing, AL to the late James Harvey Wood and Deborah Williams Wood. He passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Cullman Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Erskine was a member of Faith Baptist Church for over 40 years. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army, and went ashore on “D-Day” in France. He was a faithful member and enjoyed the “Lester Williams” Sunday School Class. And was known by many as a gretter at Wal-Mart for over 20 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Clifford Ray Thornton; a grandson, Christopher Harper and one sister, Anita Hanks.

Survivors include his Wife of 61 years – Anita Thompson Wood; four 4 – Daughters – Sharron (Robert) Harper, Pat Thornton, Susan (Bobby) Aldridge and Donna Wood; five 5 – Grandchildren – Steven Harper, Cynthia Humphries, Autumn Patterson, Jerrid Thornton and Ben Aldridge; and five 5 – Great-Grandchildren

The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
