Mr. Hubert Earl Gilbert

Funeral Services for Mr. Hubert Earl Gilbert, age 90 of Anniston, formerly of Cullman, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014 in the Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cullman City Cemetery with, Bro. Jim Deason & Bro. Roy Fields officiating.

Mr. Gilbert was born in Marion County on January 15, 1924 to the late Joe E. & Bertha Champion Gilbert. He passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Anniston Regional Medical Center. Hubert retired after many years of service as a math teacher at Cullman Middle School. He was a member at South Cullman church of Christ for over 40 years where he served as the treasure. Mr. Gilbert was veteran of WW II, serving in the South Pacific in the Navy. He loved his family, fishing and golfing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Jessie Ruth Gilbert, Elsie Gilbert (Relton) Whitworth and Verna Gilbert (Elbert) Vaughn; two brothers, Elvis (Eula) Gilbert & Ottis (Emma) Gilbert.

Survivors include his Wife of 67 years – Nila June Burleson Gilbert; Daughter – Rhonda (Jackie) Griffith; 2 – Grandchildren – Wesley (Beth) Griffith & Brooke Griffith (Cory) Chandler; 3 – Great-Grandchildren – Walker Griffith, Hudson Chandler & Weston Chandler; Sister – Erma Mann; 2 – Brothers – Elmer Gilbert & Jimmy (Euphena) Gilbert; and a Host of Nieces & Nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be, Wesley Griffith, Cory Chandler, Randy Parris, James Metcalf, James Fox, Dexter Campbell, Toby Monts & Richard Evans.
