Bud was born on June 1, 1948, in Cullman, Alabama, to James Bud Blalock, Sr. and Flay Katheryn McKenzie (Copeland), both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Edker “Big Mac” McKenzie, and by his beloved wife of 33 years, Patricia Ann Blalock (Mains).

Bud came from a large farming family rooted in Cullman County and carried a deep love for his hometown throughout his life. Ever the entrepreneur and a sales aficionado with style savvy, he owned a men’s clothing store in West Virginia and later became a District Manager with S&K Men’s Clothing in the greater southeast where he eventually retired after 26 years in the company. He was known for his love of Alabama Crimson Tide football, golf, classic western movies, a good meal, and especially for the stories he loved to tell. Even during the difficult health challenges of his later years, his love for his family remained constant.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to ACG Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Bud and his family during his illness.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman, Alabama on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
