

Funeral Services for Mr. James Mitchell Blankenship, age 85 of Logan, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in the Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Prospect church of Christ cemetery, with Bro. Kent Persall officiating.

Mr. Blankenship was born in Cullman County on January 25, 1929 to the late Elton C. & Lonie Mae Pearson Blankenship, he passed away on April 20, 2014, at his residence surrounded by family. Mitchell had worked at the Cullman Power Board, and went on to own Blankenship Merchandise at Guthrie’s Crossroads, and then the Old Country Flea Market in Trimble. He also was a longtime member of Prospect church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Dorothy Nail Cagle.
Survivors include his Wife – Billie Jean Biggs Blankenship; one Daughter – Amy (Randy) Shadrick; 2 – Sons – Derrick Blankenship and James “Jim” (Louanne) Blankenship; 8 –Grandchildren - Glenn (Kristi) Blankenship, Matt (Joy) Blankenship, Nikki Blankenship, Lindsay Blankenship, Heather (Randy) Jones, Valerie (Alex) Martin,Kelly Blankenship, Kala Noneaker. 11 -Great-grandchildren - Grady, Logan, Allie, Carson, Illidan, Easton, Maddie, Holleigh, Kallista, Ryan, and Devan.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
