Ms. Karen Diane Wilson Speakman

Ms. Speakman was born on November 9, 1949 inCullman to the late Ervin Warren Wilson and Rachel Ida(Tucker) Wilson. She passed away on Thursday,October 4, 2012 at Noland Hospital in Birmingham.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include one daughter, Tonya (Jason) Gladden, two brothers: Ervin Dewayne (Martha Jane) Wilson and Gary (Deborah Jane) Wilson, nephews and nieces: Mark (Michele) Wilson, Cody Wilson, and Ashley Wilson, and great nephew and niece Matthew Wilson and Mandrea Wilson.

Ms. Speakman was an adult graduate of Athens State University where she received her Bachelor’s in Science in Accounting. She worked for Cullman (Regional) Medical Center and Baptist Health Systems for almost thirty years before her retirement.

She was a loving and selfless caregiver to her parents, caring for them until their passing. She also dedicated more than two years to the care of her son-in-law’s mother, Rebecca Gladden.

She was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved to spend time with her family, and always enjoyed a family card game. She was a fan of classic country and southern gospel music. Favorite hobbies were shopping with her daughter, and sitting outside watching her “grand-critters” play. Her greatest passion was reading.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
