Brad Lee Stockli was born in Newburgh, NY on December 16, 1962 to Dorothy and Gerald Stockli. He was one of six children and spent much of his childhood in Walden, NY. He had a restless spirit from the start and his days were spent outside exploring until the streetlights came on and mostly causing trouble which we can still laugh about to this day.
He moved to Reva, VA with his family when he was a teenager where he attended Culpeper County High School. He got his first job on the books at Martin Brower and had no trouble finding new adventures in Virginia as he loved spending time with his family and had no problem making new friends. You could often find him going for joy rides on his motorcycle with the wind in his hair and music blaring. And when he grew older, he would speak fondly of his younger days working on the Power’s farm, taking the canoe to the creek, and swimming in the nearby pond with his brothers and sisters on hot summer days.
After high school he joined the Navy and set sail to travel the world and serve his country. He was always a captive audience for an ever-changing sky and said the most beautiful sunrise and sunsets were right there on the ship in the middle of the ocean. Brad had always said the Navy was the best thing he’d ever done until his ship was in Port in New England and he met his first wife, they fell in love and had his 3 daughters: Sarah, Amanda, and Lauren. As proud as he was to be a veteran, he was most proud to be their father and worked hard his whole life to provide for his children. He loved them with all his heart and left them with memories to cherish forever.
Brad was just a great guy. He was passionate about standing up for what he believed in and had a special knack for fighting injustice which he used to help so many people while serving as the President of the National Association of Postal Supervisors (NAPS) during his successful career at the United States Post Office. Brad wasn’t the type to give up. He knew his stuff and had the tenacity to get through whatever challenge he faced. He was a force to be reckoned with.
Brad retired in 2018 at the young age of 56 years old and shortly after he made his way back to Reva, VA where he was so proud to build a new house where his parent’s home once stood and he was so happy to get to spend quality time with his father, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and more recently his girlfriend, all of which brought him so much joy and made his daughters so proud.
The family feels blessed not only to have been with Brad to celebrate his 60th Birthday and the loud, kind hearted, goofball he truly was, but also to have been with him to hold his hand and share their unending love as he took his last breath. And though we are absolutely devastated by this unexpected loss, we will keep him alive in our hearts until we meet again. We take comfort until that day comes that Brad is in Heaven with his mother, Dorothy, in the presence of God and his infinite love.
Brad was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Stockli and is survived by his father, Gerald Stockli; his daughters: Sarah Stockli (significant other Kyle ), Amanda Freeman (Husband Andrew), and Lauren Stockli (significant other Lyden), his girlfriend; Sabina Horak, his sisters; Trixie Freeman (Husband Robert), Lori Schoenfelder (Husband Larry), and brothers; Gerald Stockli, Jr. (wife Jennifer), Tom Stockli (wife Jennifer), and Andrew Stockli (wife Amy), as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
