

Clara Marie Atkins, 88, of Sperryville, VA passed away at her residence Monday, September 9, 2013. Mrs. Atkins was born in Rappahannock County, VA to Frank Ray Frazier, Sr. and Lizzie Cora Dodson Frazier March 12, 1925; was a member of the Black Oak Regular Baptist Church and retired as the cafeteria manager of the Rappahannock County High School.
Mrs. Atkins was a born-again Christian, having trusted Jesus as her Savior in August, 1945, and was baptized and joined Black Oak Regular Baptist Church August 26, 1945, remaining a faithful and dedicated member until her death. She was a former member of Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary as well as a long-time volunteer at the Rappahannock Senior Center. She also served as Clerk of the Ketocton Association of Regular Baptist Churches for 11 years.
Surviving Mrs. Atkins are her brothers, Shelve H. Frazier and his wife Montrue of Castleton, VA and Frank Ray Frazier, Jr. and his wife Phyliss of Boston, VA; a sister-in-law, Esther E. Frazier of Fredericksburg, VA and her nieces and nephews, Brenda Frazier, Michael Frazier of Culpeper, VA; James, Diane, Jessica and Jeremiah Frazier and John Lillis of Fredericksburg, VA; Joseph, Lori, Madison and Weston Peregory and Jennifer, Jeff, Blake and Colton Woodward of Castleton, VA; Michele and Stan Williams of Tappahannock, VA; Christopher, Ashley and Venissa Frazier, Calvin and Nancy Atkins, Angela, Josh, Andrew and Nicholas Hitt, Melvin and Juanita Atkins of Sperryville, VA; Kelly, Ed, Camden and Carly Snider of Warrenton, VA; Patricia and Doug Doty, Jason, Mazzi and Jahci Knick, Michael, Austin and Tyler Knick, of Maryland; and Daniel, MaKenna and Kadance Knick of Tennessee. She preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin Atkins, her siblings, Holtzman Frazier, Harold L. Frazier, Clustus Frazier and Agnes P. Holden and by her niece, Janet F. Perregory and her nephews Clarence F. Perregory and M.J. “Mike” Lillis.
Serving as pallbearers will be Melvin Atkins, Josh Hitt, Ed Snider, John Dodson, Kyle Printz, Joseph Perregory, Michael Frazier and Christopher Frazier. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Tharp, Allan Bertzin, Stan Williams, John Lillis, James Frazier, cousins William Corbin and James Dodson and nephews Nicholas and Andrew Hitt.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Richards and Dr. Wayne Thompson conducting the service. Interment will be in the Sperryville Cemetery.
