Dollie Mildred “Mollie” Slaughter-Jordan, age 73, of Culpeper, VA, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Novant Health UVA Health System in Culpeper, VA.
Mollie was born April 19, 1944, in Rappahannock, VA, to Thomas Jessie and Ollie Mildred Jackson. She went to high school at George Washington Carver; worked for Aileen’s Factory for several years;later, she became employed with Omni Services in Culpeper where she worked for twenty-seven years. In 2007, she joined the staff of Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal, VA, where she was employed for seven years.
Mollie enjoyed many things throughout her life journey. She made great strides to live every day to the fullest. Even when her health began to fail her, she continually held the determination and the devotion to serve the Lord and do the Lord’s work to the fullest. One of the many motto’s in her life was that she would not accept half-stepping for the Lord and she most often stated, “If you can’t do it right, then don’t do it at all.”
Mollie was very well known throughout various communities for using her God-given gift, singing for the glory of God. There was never a person whom she encountered that she did not leave a personal impact on their life. Whether it was a word of encouragement or through a song that she sang, everybody knew Mollie Slaughter-Jordan and how she displayed the magnificence of the Lord through and through.
Mollie is survived by and leaves to cherish her loving memory three children, daughters, Darlene M. Fields, and Angelea C. Starks, and son Roderick L. Slaughter; along with an adopted son James Stanton, all of Culpeper, VA, one brother, Ray Jackson (Connie) of Northern Virginia, Minister Hattie Slaughter (Richard), Nannie Slaughter all of Culpeper and Lucy Osborne of Harrisburg, PA one Uncle “Thomas “Buddy” Jackson, five grandchildren, Michael L. Slaughter and Jasmine Fields of Culpeper, VA, Raelyn and Ryanna Slaughter of Spotsylvania and Bradley Starks (Shinea) of Orange, VA, eight great-grandchildren, Gennifer, Harmony, Gabe, Summira, KiShon, Kyrie, Kylie and Kinley, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins, one Godson, Darryle Toliver and one Goddaughter, Lashawnya Jackson.
In addition to her parents, Mollie was preceded in death by her late husband(s) Thomas Leroy Slaughter and Melvin Louis Jordan, her daughter Gennifer R. Slaughter, five grandchildren, Nicole Slaughter, Roderick Slaughter Jr, Ryan Slaughter, Lenny and Lynette Wright.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m.at Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Center, 15044 Ryland Chapel Road, Rixeyville, VA, Saturday, March 31, 2018. The family will receive friends at church one hour prior to service time.
