Obituary of Hazel Williams Alvey
Hazel Williams Alvey, 86, of Culpeper, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia on Thursday, January 8th after a short illness. A long time resident of Culpeper, Virginia, Hazel was born on June 12, 1928, to James Ransell Williams and Jessie Camden Williams in Madison Heights, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earle Richard Alvey, Jr., sister Lois Huff and brother Edward Earl (Ed) Williams, and her granddaughter Rhonda Elaine Alvey. Hazel is survived by her children Earle Richard Alvey III and wife, Donna, of Reva, Virginia, Michael Williams Alvey and wife, Charlene of Thompsons Station, Tennessee and Elizabeth Lee Bennett and husband Scott, of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren Richard Nathan Alvey and wife, Ninfa, William David Alvey, Kathryn Elizabeth Alvey, John Charles Alvey and wife, Melanie, Rebecca Ryan Bennett and Christopher Scott Bennett; great grandchildren Anthony Richard and Natalie Elaine Alvey; brothers James R. Williams, Jr. and C. Russell Williams and sisters Minabelle Arthur, Mary Tyree and Sterling Fitzgerald, all of Lynchburg, Virginia. Hazel was a devoted wife, loving mother, loyal sister, and a true friend. She will be remembered for her positive outlook on life, her kind and caring nature, her subtle wit, her grace and her charm, and her love for helping other people. She will also be remembered for her kindness to students at Culpeper County Junior High and for her assistance to those in need as a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. Hazel was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a support member of Reva Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Clore-English Funeral Home, Culpeper, Virginia, on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Adam Meisberger conducting the service. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time on January 17, 2015. Condolences may be given at clore-english.com.
