

Jesse Lewis Breeden, 87, of Culpeper, passed away at his residence on July 21, 2016 with his wife at his bedside, after a long, hard fight with heart and other illness. Mr. Breeden was born February 15, 1929 in Syria (Madison County) to the late Ruben Lewis Breeden and Beatrice Smith Breeden.
Mr. Breeden was a founder and lifetime member of the Reva Volunteer Fire Department. He worked for 20 years with the Culpeper Town Police until he retired in 1980 from a back injury. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Mr. Breeden is survived by his wife, Carrie Payne Breeden; daughters, Sheri Tanner (Rusty) and Rhonda Yim; grandsons, Brian Tanner (Kimbley) and Eric Yim; great-grandsons, Brayden and Gannon Tanner; brother, Irvin Breeden (Peggy); sister-in-law, Doris “Dody” Breeden; a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Donnie Foster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Randolph Breeden, Sr., Ruben Junior Breeden; sisters Earline Settle and Betty Lynn Hicks; and son-in-law Peter Yim.
Gentlemen selected to serve as pall bearers are Gene Corbin, Anthony Clatterbuck, Steve Corbin, Chris Jenkins, Stratford Settle and Donnie Foster.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 at 11:00a.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia. Interment in Fairview Cemetery will immediately follow the service. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Clore-English Funeral Home from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reva Volunteer Fire Department, 18320 Birmingham Road, Culpeper, Virginia 22701.
