Larry Burnett Wise Sr

Larry Burnett Wise, Sr., 57, of Rixeyville, VA passed away at his residence Friday, December 20, 2014. Larry was born in Warrenton, VA to Burnett Franklin Wise and Shirley Settle Wise August 22, 1956. He was a valued associate of William A. Hazel Construction for 30 years and enjoyed a close personal relationship with the Hazel family. He even played a part in their Christmas celebration with his love of horses. Larry was president of the Virginia Draft Horse Association and a founding member of the Old Dominion Draft Horse and Mule Association. His love of children and animals lead him to be active with 4-H, Camp Fantastic, and the Howlin’ Hoedown. He was an avid genealogist and a history buff with interest in the Civil War. Larry was a member and past deacon of Novum Baptist Church, Novum, VA.

Larry is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Liz” Boldridge Wise; his sons , Larry Burnett Wise, Jr. of Hillsville, VA and Curtis Ashby Wise (Linda) of Amissville, VA ; his grandchildren, Clara, Emma, Katelyn and Bryan Wise; his mother, Shirley S. Wise of Reva, VA; his siblings, Jesse Wise (Janet), Gary Wise (Donna), Denise Webb (Neil), Jeff Wise (Paige) and Billy Wise (Cathy) and his mother and father-in-law, John and Bettie Boldridge, Sr. and their family. Also there are numerous nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his father.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA 22701. Interment will be private and at a later date. Memorial contributions should be made to the Old Dominion Draft Horse and Mule Association.
