Louise Batten

Louise Smith Batten, a long-time resident of Culpeper, passed away on July 21, 2024, after an extended illness. She has gone to rejoin her husband of 70 years, Clarence, who passed away in 2020. She was a loving, kind, caring, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by two sons, Sandy and Kevin, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Louise was born in the Culpeper area in 1931 and graduated from Culpeper County High School. She held various bookkeeping positions during her working life, ending her career in the corporate office of the Virginia Baptist Home (now The Culpeper). She was a long-time and active member of the Culpeper Baptist Church and an active member and past president of the Culpeper Business and Professional Women’s Club. After retirement she devoted much of her time to the auxiliary of the Culpeper Regional Hospital, working in the coffee shop and serving as treasurer of the auxiliary for more than a decade. There will be a graveside memorial service in Fairview Cemetery on Monday, July 29 at 12:00 noon.
