Margie Marie Compton Cooper was born February 20, 1924 to Eppa Scott and Madie Settle Compton at their homeplace in Rixeyville, Virginia and was the youngest of 10 children. She died peacefully in her home on June 14, 2022, with her loving daughter, Linda, holding her hand.
Margie had a twinkle in her stunningly beautiful blue eyes and a real zest for life, and believed in living it to the fullest. She enjoyed always being on the go, whether visiting family, going shopping or out to eat. She was always ready to hit the road to wherever it would take her. She and her husband, Curt, were inseparable. They enjoyed being together all the time, especially traveling around our beautiful Virginia countryside. They were known to hop in their car and ride around wherever the road led them and stopped to enjoy a meal wherever they were. They also loved McDonald’s, especially for a cup of hot coffee. While they loved their day trips, they always retuned to the home they loved every night. Margie and Curt made their home in Maryland in their younger years, then out to Boston, Virginia, and finally in Madison, Virginia, where they lived out their golden years on their picturesque estate. Margie always enjoyed gardening flowers, fruits and vegetables, helping Curt mow grass and taking care of the baby calves that came along. She appreciated the beauty of the land, their pond and woodland. She loved to fish and fry up her catch for dinner, with some homemade cornbread. She loved the outdoors and was also quite a markswoman. She loved animals, big and small, from their cattle, to their poodles, to their many cats over the years. They even had a wild, pet squirrel named Chip, who would visit them daily in their family room to retrieve his pecans and walnuts, which were always on hand just for him. She also hosted many family/holiday gatherings in her home where good times were had and great memories were made by all. Margie was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Boston, Virginia and is saved by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Margie is survived by her devoted daughter, Linda B Butler, and special daughter in law, Rebecca G.
