Mary Pruett Whalen, 90, of Orange, VA and formerly of Culpeper, VA passed away March 10, 2022 at Dogwood Village. Mary was the widow of Ralph L. Whalen, Sr.. She was born May 9, 1931 in Washington, DC to George Raymond Pruett and Winfred Williams Pruett. Mary was a member of the Culpeper United Methodist Church and worked as an office manager for a doctor’s office.
Surviving Mrs. Whalen are her children, Belinda Berry and Ralph L. Whalen, Jr. and his wife Sue; her grandchildren, Jennifer Gigliottii and her husband Jerrod, Cindy Whalen and Savannah B. Jacobs and her husband Todd and her great-grandchildren Jake and Jackson Gigliotti. She also leaves a sister Jennifer Gattis and her husband Franklin and a sister-in-law Eva Pruett. Preceding her in death are her husband and her siblings John Pruett and Joan Moxley.
Funeral services will be held in the Culpeper United Methodist Church Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 1:00p.m. with interment in the Culpeper National Cemetery. Pastor John Hemming will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00p.m. in the church.
It has been suggested that those attending this celebration of life wear blue and/or spring colors, honoring Mary with her favorite color blue.
