She was born on March 27, 1953 in Warrenton, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Alexander Bell and Rebecca Chaplin Bell of Culpeper.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 37 years, Edward J. Weld, Jr (Joe), her son Edward Alexander Weld (Alex) of Reva, her daughter Leslie Weld Rhodes and son-in-law George C. Rhodes, III, grandson Liam Joseph Rhodes, of Manassas, and sister Anne Bell Scott of Charlottesville.
A 1971 graduate of Culpeper County High School, Nancy attended the Jefferson Professional Institute in Charlottesville, VA. She was a longtime employee at Culpeper Family Practice, and later worked part time for Dr. Shannon Butler, so she could stay in touch with all her friends in the community. A volunteer EMT, she spent many nights on the ambulance running rescue calls with the Reva Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company 16. No matter how late the pager went off, she would be the first to respond, and even got to fly with a patient in the MedEvac helicopter Pegasus. She was Assistant Chief of EMS from 2002 to 2008, and active in Tuesday night Bingo at Reva. She put her artistic abilities to use in making beautifully decorated birthday cakes for her family and hand smocked dresses for her daughter and niece. Nancy enjoyed traveling, and she and Joe visited many places from Hawaii to Europe.
Nancy was well loved by many in the community of Culpeper, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
