Phillip “Garland” Estes, Jr., 55, of Culpeper, peacefully passed away July 9, 2019 at his home while surrounded by his family. Garland was born October 7, 1963 to Phillip Garland Sr. and Katherine Jenkins Estes. Garland was married to the love of his life, Phyllis E. Estes for 33 years.
Garland worked as a heavy equipment operator for most of his life, he had a strong love of family and was strong-willed, never giving up on life.
In addition to his spouse and his father, Garland is survived by his children, Phillip Garland Estes, III and Ashley Estes Skelly (Wayne); grandchildren, Kholey, Kaleb and Austin Skelly, Luke Berman-Estes and Trinity Whisler: siblings Tina E. Corbin (Junior) and Wendy Dyer (Larry). He was preceded in death by his mother and a grandson, Levi Skelly.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia 22701. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
A special thank you is extended by the family to the Hospice of the Piedmont, Rapidan Chapter and the UVA Hope Center of Culpeper.
