Ron is survived by his daughters Lorie (Gary), Karen, and Leslie (Rick); grandchildren Chris, Chelsea, Kayla, Brian, and Holly; and great-grandchildren Victoria Grace, Severus, Lilian, and Jaiden. Ron is also survived by 14 “adopted” grandchildren from all over the world, as he welcomed the many foreign exchange students hosted by his daughters into his heart and home. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary M. Brudon and Ronald V. Goheen, his stepfather George W. Brudon, and his beloved wife of 64 years, Margaret F. Goheen.
Ron was born on March 5, 1938 in Trenton, NJ but spent his childhood and youth in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Ron joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. In September 1959, while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, Ron joined another sailor on a trip to Loudoun County, Virginia to attend a United Methodist Youth Fellowship dance at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. At the dance, Ron met a lovely young woman named Margaret; Ron was smitten and was soon making trips from Norfolk to Loudoun County to see Margaret. The young couple got engaged in December, and in June of 1960, they were married.
Ron grew up in the Methodist church and was active throughout his life in various capacities. Most recently, Ron enjoyed attending weekly church services, attending weekly Bible study, and singing with the church choir. When he became ill, he enjoyed visits from his pastor and conversations with the hospital chaplain.
Ron led a life of service; service to his God, his country, and his family. Ron led by example and was devoted to his wife and children. He was the epitome of a “good man” and will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
