Velma Louise Kline, 91, of Culpeper, VA passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 in Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton, VA. She was born to Ernest Drake and Jennie Hinish Drake on October 26, 1930 and was the widow of George Bailor Kline, Jr.
Surviving Mrs. Kline are her sons David Kline and his wife Agnes of Ashville, NC and Dennis Kline of Ellicott City, MD. Velma is preceded in death by her brother Floyd Arthur Drake (Mary Kathryn), her brother Robert Donald Drake and her parents.
Velma and George were married for 66 years and had a full and glorious life together. With many moves in George's career, when they arrived in Culpeper in Nov 1970, they knew they had found their forever home. Velma then started her career with the Culpeper School System as an educator at Farmington Elementary School. After many years of teaching math, she transferred to the library and then to the front office where she retired. She then started volunteering at the Culpeper Hospital as one of the "Pink Ladies" and worked in the gift shop. During all these activities, she found time to be a band mom and support the CCHS band, had a beautiful flower garden and supported the Culpeper United Methodist Church in many different capacities over the years.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Culpeper United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 East Chandler Street.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 2:00p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home.
