

William Walker Jenkins, 76, of Culpeper, Virginia, son of Thomas Earl and Tennie Laura Jenkins (both deceased) passed from this earthly life to his heavenly home Saturday August 13, 2016, at Culpeper Hospital, under the care of Hospice of the Piedmont. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Anne; brothers, Thomas Edward Jenkins (Bertha), Thomas Earl Jenkins, Jr. (Cecile), Franklin Kyle (Judy); and predeceased by brother J.W. (Virginia). Nieces and nephews include Teresa, Ronnie, Judy Lynn, Henry Ray, Debbie, Eddie Roy, Kim, T.J., Melissa, and Jeff. He is also survived by his chosen family, Bert and Rose Browning; Emily Browning and Peter Graham; Ashley and Jason Huffman (Cooper and Eliza); Amanda Browning and Sam Srauy (Madeline); Rex and Rose Hines; Jessica and Tim Cottet, and his children.
“Mr. Red” or “Billy Boot” as he was affectionately known by family and friends, retired from VDOT in 1995 after 40 years of service. In retirement, he always said he was going to the “office,” where as an avid golfer he enjoyed playing many rounds with his buddies.
He was a member of Culpeper Baptist Church, serving as Deacon, past Trustee, Youth Sunday School Teacher and Director, and on many committees/teams. He and Betty Anne, for over 20 years, did Home Bound Ministry, visiting those no longer able to come to church, enjoying many hours of sharing about church and what he and Betty Anne were doing. Red will be remembered for his smile and infectious laugh, and for his care for his loving family, his church and his community.
Family Visitation will be Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. in the Worship Center at Culpeper Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Culpeper Baptist Church. Conducting services will be Pastors Bert Browning, Dan Carlton, and Hans Murdock. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Doug Bayne, Doug Kyle, Jay Lanham, Brent Sprinkle, David Pearce, Richard Baker, Eddie Roy Jenkins, and Henry Ray Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Thomson, Wayne Richards, Ronnie Jenkins, and members of the W.P. Lewis Sunday School Class. Memorial contributions may be made to Culpeper Baptist Church or Hospice of the Piedmont.
