Burgundy was born in Santa Monica, California from Dan and Janet Dodd. Burgundy was an only child but grew up with her cousins Darlene, Laura and David. She went to Notre Dame grade school and St. Monica’s High School. She loved animals and seemed to always have dogs around her. She has two dogs Cubbie and Gracie.. She loved to watch I Love Lucy reruns and any girlie love stories. She enjoyed 60’s music, 80’s music and a group called “Celtic Thunder” was her very favorite. Burgundy’s favorite color is lavender/lilac. She and John knew each other as teenagers and fell in love, got married August 17, 1991. She was 24 and John was 26. Together they were the perfect pair, so natural and fun loving. They enjoyed camping and the great outdoors, especially Mammoth Lakes and the Kern River. Burgundy so enjoyed the forest and the big pine trees. The last five years have been a real struggle for both John and Burgundy. She has been so very ill and John was the perfect caregiver to her. She had her ups and downs with numerous bouts of radiation and lots of chemo treatments but she never complained. She would get through one regime and then the cancer spread somewhere else and she had to start it all over again. It just kept moving to different parts of her body. She kept going and never gave up. There came a point though that she could no longer enjoy the forest or the lakes and rivers. She was just too sick to care. But she still did not complain. These last few months she was in bed most of the time and became weaker and weaker. Burgundy was born an angel. She was kind, patient, sweet, caring, loving and had a beautiful soul. She never said a swear word nor did she ever say a bad thing about anyone. She never gossiped. She worried about everyone that was close to her or even the ones that she heard about that were suffering in one way or another that she did not know. Burgundy has to be in heaven because she lived like an angel on earth. I am sure she has wings now and they are lavender and big. In lieu of flowers any donations to The Humane Society in Burgundy’s name would be appreciated.
