Francisco Batas Paredes Jr. was born on December 11, 1953 to Francisco and Juanita Paredes in General Santos, Philippines. He was the 12th child and had amazing experiences from his early beginnings until eventually arriving to Los Angeles. Since he was the youngest in the family, his willingness to help out in the family was deeply ingrained within his well being. He was raised as a Catholic and his continuous practice of faith throughout the years became more relevant, especially until the times of his passing. Throughout his enculturation, Francisco fell in love with music at a very early age with aspirations to explore that endeavor. Stories of him practicing his musical craft were noticed as he enhanced his skills with instruments such as the flute, drums, piano, saxophone, and bongos. His family name and the most commonly used one was “Boy.” Francisco made his presence known within the family during many dynamic phases throughout his life. Some of the attributes and values that he demonstrated were his lovingness, handsomeness, compassion, self-sacrifice, and dedication to the family. In 1976, his first son Francisco B. Paredes III was born. Francisco, as a parent, was engaged and proactive in his life. Francisco was remarried to Maribeth Paredes and from this union had 3 children. Jovina, Jasper, and Jonathan Paredes. He touched the lives of his children in many beautiful ways. A father’s love such as his was something that has been admirable, appreciated, and will be preserved until eternity. Francisco was a well-rounded man. There were many times when he would wake his children up early in the morning to whisk his family away for spontaneous fishing trips to Redondo. There were many times when he would bring out his bongo drums or piano to create a jam session at home. This created excitement, fun, and everlasting memories to be shared with his children. Francisco had experience in the commercial insurance industry, which assisted families and businesses by providing a satisfying and professional experience for many. Hobbies that were a part of his life were also becoming a Master Mechanic and a demonstrated problem solver. He was an active bowler throughout the years. He was able to show his culinary skills with some of his famous BBQ Chicken, steak and other Filipino delicacies. The greatest contribution of Francisco’s life has been with his family. He managed to create a relationship with each of them amongst the hustle and bustle that life can bring. Francisco was a HERO who embodied the qualities that have allowed his family to build their own relationships in life. He never allowed anyone to quit and only encouraged them in ways that were so endearing and in a way that made him distinguishable and truly exceptional. This role he played in his entire life, which were provided at time of need, will continue to resonate in his family’s hearts. He lived for the happiness of his wife, kids, and grandkids. He believed in creating moments that only a True Father could instill because his love and care was unconditional. Francisco spent time with his brothers and sisters and was always sought out for wisdom, advice, and comfort by his siblings. He was given a special kind of love, perhaps because he continued to nurture the relationships throughout the years. He fought until his very last breath with his entire family by his side.
