Jeanne Schonberg Robinson Walker Powell Domingue…was born on October 17, 1918 in Donaldsonville, LA and passed away on October 3, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles, California. Jeanne is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Myrle Domingue, her loving parents, August and Mary LeBlanc Schonberg, her siblings, Rosine S. LaCroix, Emmanuel (Mike) Schonberg, Hilda S. Burbank, Earl Schonberg, Augustine S. Bolden, Charles Schonberg, Sr. and Allen Schonberg. Jeanne was a devout Catholic and attended school under the Sisters of the Holy Family Catholic Order. She moved to Los Angeles, California in the mid-1940s and remained a resident until her passing. She met and married her first husband, George Robinson, of which she remained close. Later on after her divorce from George, she married Don Walker, followed by James “Jimmy” Powell of whom was in her care until his untimely death. The absolute love of her life was Myrle Domingue! Jeanne and Myrle were married late in their lives; Myrle restored passion and glamour in her life always keeping her classy and paramount until his passing. Jeanne was employed by Walt Disney Studios/The Disney Organization from its inception and often told personal stories of her affiliation with Walt Disney and the vision he forecasted as we currently know; Disneyland, Disneyworld and Epcot Center. The “Disney” family was a second family to Jeanne and she was so proud of her involvement and contributions. Jeanne was an attractive and extremely classy lady! Her beautiful style and love of fashion was extraordinary. She only wore the FINEST of clothes and shoes: Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, nothing less! She shopped in the elite department stores: Sax Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, just to name a few. Her love for the culinary art of cooking was exceptional! She remained a gourmet cook until her last days as she shared with everyone how to properly dress and prepare meals. She was a perfectionist, an awesome housekeeper and the best landlord. Her assortment of antique furniture and artifacts are priceless and she never resisted an opportunity to show her collections. Frequently, she had large gatherings at her home of elaborate dinner parties with formal place settings. She did not hesitate on telling you the proper way to set a table or the correct fork to use when eating a salad! The water glasses were filled minutes before seating (and it better be cold)! By the way, dressing for dinner was mandatory! Jeanne was also a horticulturist. Her garden was full of beautiful roses and fruit trees and her lawn manicured with precision. Jeanne was the only one on her block with GREEN GRASS during the California drought! Her love for her cats, her children, as she referred to them was monumental! She cared for her cats sparing nothing but the best for them. It’s often said by many who visited Jeanne, that upon their passing, they want to return to this earth as a cat just to receive her love! Jeanne did not have any children; however, she was a matriarch, a cornerstone to ALL in the Schonberg family and many in the Los Angeles area. She clothed and nurtured nieces, nephews, grandkids and
neighbors. Across the miles, she cared for her mother in Louisiana. Throughout many illnesses and surgeries which were crushing and painful; she remained stern and steadfast. Jeanne leaves behind to cherish in her memory her brother in law, Edger Domingue, her sister in law, Dolores LeCesne, her nieces and nephews, Eleanor Schonberg Sherman, Charles Schonberg, Jr., Leo Sherman, Marcia Taylor, Earl Schonberg, Jr., Allen Schonberg, II, Stephanie Patton, Leslie Payne, Kym Allen, Daniele LeCesne, Sandie/Clark Powell, Shana Powell Hindley and a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. With heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers: Darlene Tillet, Jennifer Smith, Gerome Turner, Umie, Entye, Dolly and Corinne. THANK YOU for your unconditional love, kindness, and countless “midnight” hours caring for Jeanne. She loved you very much. To Darlene’s son, Joshua Nkanta, (Jeanne referred to Joshua as her grandson), thank you, Joshua for making her smile and displaying affection to her, she loved you so much
