It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Keith Wallace Guitard, “Banjo”, “Papa Keith”, a devoted partner, and loving father, who left us on Sunday, February 09, 2025 at the age of 65. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory we will forever hold in our hearts.
Born in Dalhousie, New Brunswick on August 27, 1959, the son of Wallace (d. 2019) and Joan (Gallie) Guitard. Keith was an avid outdoor enthusiast & tinkerer, spending countless hours exploring the wilderness, hunting and working on various projects at his new riverfront home.
Keith is survived by his mother, Joan, his loving life partner, Yvonne Stewart-Lapointe, his son Devon Guitard (Denise), step-children Billy (Kat), Branden (Laura) and Arren. 5 step-grandchildren (Ridley, Freya, Hazel, Lena and Elodie) and godsons Shaine Guitard and Westyn Byrne. Brother Kevin (Julie) Guitard, Sisters Saundra (Martin) MacMullin, Sherree (Jim) Chessie, Stephany (Sean) Penney and Samantha (Mike) Breneol. He will also be missed by several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
From a young age, he developed a deep love for the great outdoors, a passion that would shape the course of his life. He found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of the natural world, and his adventurous spirit was truly infectious. One of Keith’s greatest joys was hunting. He took immense pride in his annual hunting trips with friends.
Hockey was another cornerstone of Keith’s life. His on-ice personality was ‘quick-on-his-feet’ noted for his speed while playing on local teams, coaching from the sidelines or cheering on his son at games. Hockey brought Keith immense happiness.
Keith’s love for exploration extended far beyond the boundaries of hunting and hockey. He had a zest for life and his legacy will live on through countless lives he touched, the memories he created, his roaring laugh, and the love he shared with those around him. Keith was a dedicated volunteer firefighter, demonstrating profound wisdom, compassion and dedication to serving his communities.
Beyond his pastimes, Keith earned a reputation as a skilled welder at various locations across Canada. He was proud of this work and found it ever rewarding.
Your love, laughter, and adventures will be deeply missed, but your spirit will forever remain in the places you loved and hearts you touched.
