It is with deep sadness we share the news of the passing of a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mae Zakrevsky of Dalhousie, New Brunswick. Mae passed away on July 8th with her husband by her side at Campbellton Regional Hospital.
She was born in Dalhousie in 1935, a daughter of the late Graziella [Grace] Demers and the late Arthur Thompson.
Mae is survived by her two daughters, Joanne [Charles] McCormick of Blackland and Patricia [Phil] Seman of Lansing Michigan. Her love will be carried on in her grandchildren, William, Chris, Melanie, and Brittney, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her sister Marjorie [Guy] Belanger. Mae’s husband of 35 years, Victor Zakrevsky, passed away on July 10, 2021.
Mae enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, fishing, gardening, cooking and especially picking wild strawberries. She was involved with the Brownies for a number of years then went back to further her education and worked with the disabled, which she really enjoyed. Mae was a beautiful soul and will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
A special thanks to Dr. Quintal, the Extra-Mural nurses and the staff of the Mallais Care Home (Rene Cormier, Melissa Bonspille and Elva Lapointe) for the daily care they provided, which enabled Mae to remain in her home for as long as she did. As well, thank you to all the staff, nurses and doctors of the Campbellton Regional Hospital for your kindness and compassion.
A private service and interment will take place at St. John Baptist Cemetery at a later date.
The family requests that those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Mae’s memory.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.
