

Alfred Jenkins Hoffman, Sr., age 90, of Dallas, died Saturday, December 04, 2010 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Dallas and was the son of the late Ralph Jenkins and Olla Rhyne Hoffman.
Mr. Hoffman was a graduate of Dallas High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star for demonstrating the highest degree of personal courage under fire, loyalty and sincere devotion to duty. He was the 1st walking Postman in Dallas and retired from United States Post Office in Dallas. He was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Dallas.
Mr. Hoffman is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Varnum Hoffman; one daughter, Devron Lee Hoffman of Dallas; one son, Alfred “Freddy” Jenkins Hoffman, Jr. of Dallas; one brother, Jerry Hoffman of Charlotte; four grandchildren, John Christopher Hoffman of Belmont, Kevin Dale Williams, Dru Hoffman Parker and husband Greg, Hannah Hoffman Weston and husband Joe all of Dallas; two great grandchildren, Pierson Willis Parker and Jake Allen Parker of Dallas; niece, Zoe Andria Hoffman; nephew, Eric Hoffman
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 103 W. Church Street, Dallas.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at Holy Communion Lutheran Church with Dr. Charles Crotty officiating.
Interment will follow in the Holy Communion Lutheran Church Cemetery with military honors by the US Army.
Mr. Hoffman was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ariel Hoffman; four uncles, Jim Hoffman, Carl Hoffman, Vernum Hoffman, Louie Hoffman; aunt, Mildred Hoffman Aderholt and a cousin; Bob Hoffman.
