

A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather best describes Billy Morris Heavener, 76 who passed away on July 31, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. Billy was born December 9, 1939 to the late Robert and Helen Heavener in Gaston County. He loved his family and the country he fought for. He was proud to serve in the United States Army from 1962-1965. Billy worked in the card room at Carolina Mills until he retired. His favorite pastime was fishing and those who knew him well will always remember that he loved Sundrop and Hershey kisses. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 51 years, Frances Heavener of the home; daughters, June Hastings and husband, John, Judy Cox and husband, Donnie, son, Billy Heavener Jr. and wife, Sandy; five brothers, four sisters, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
A celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Dallas Funeral Home. Interment will follow with Military Honors accorded at Gaston Memorial Park. Reverend John Freeman will preside.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
