"He Never Met a Stranger and He Always had a Smile on His Face"

Earl Douglas "Doug" Shedd, age 61, passed away on Friday ~ November 15, 2019 at the CaroMont Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Doug touched so many people's lives in our community, especially the younger generation. Doug was a well-known man in the Dallas area. There were so many people in Dallas that helped him and the whole town loved him. If you ever helped Doug, then count your blessings, because you received a blessing by helping him out. Doug loved to go fishing and sleeping on the boat of one of his dearest and closest friends'. He and his closest friend "Moe" had a bond like no other. He was Moe's best friend. Later in their friendship, they realized they knew each other when they were growing up. He always looked forward to every Friday night because that was popcorn shrimp night. Doug loved working at the Dollar Tree Store in Dallas, and was a great help and asset to his coworkers and to the customers. He was an honest man who made a "Pinky Promise" every day, saying he would do his best to be friends for life!

A Life Well Celebrated Memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday ~ November 22, 2019 at the Dallas Funeral Home, 212 West Trade Street, Dallas, North Carolina. Reverend Tim Small will deliver eulogies and remembrances to offer comfort and hope to Doug’s friends. A special Eulogy will be given by Chris “Moe” Morrow.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM ~ 7:00 PM prior to the service.

Any donations may be sent exclusively to the Dallas Funeral Home, 212 West Trade Street, Dallas, North Carolina 28034.

Although Doug was not a veteran, he supported them. Excess donations will be sent to Camp Centurion, a transitional and supportive housing for homeless veterans.

Expressions of love and fond memories may be made on Doug’s guestbook at www.carothersfuneralhomedallas.com

Dallas Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the services of Earl Douglas Shedd.

This is for Doug. He was a great guy. Everyone is right he did always have a smile on his face and always eager to help. He loved to see my grandson Brayden Duke coming, cause he knew he was fixing to get some good conversation. Brayden could talk to him for hours and they could always find something to talk about. We always gave him money if we could and cigarette coupons, when I had them. He was a good old soul and he will surely be missed.

Doug was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. He always walked my and my two year old to the car. From the time she was born he was a big help. He even walked around the Dollar tree with me and her a few times because she had stopped crying when she saw him. He was a great guy. And I hate the world was so cold to him. I'm so thankful for the people of Dallas for loving Doug as much as our family did. Doug brought us all together.

Doug was alway so sweet. When I worked at the I market a few years ago he would always come in with a smile and ask me and my partner if we wanted a drink and some chips cause we looked hungry. (Even right when we got off break) He would do this to everyone who worked atleast 2-11 shift. Rest In Peace Doug!

I felt it to be a honor to call you my sweet friend. I remember the excitement in your eyes when you told me that the Dollar Tree had FINALLY decided to give you a job and you needed to get a haircut., and how THANKFUL you were when christy and I showed up that saturday morn to tell you we were taking you to get a haircut and went shopping to buy you the clothes you needed to start your new job. However, out of all our sweet memories the one that touched my heart the most was when we found out jeff had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and you took the last dollar you had to buy him the sweetest card ever. He will forever cherish that precious card and youll never know how it touched his heart for somebody who had so little would take the time and what lil money they had to do that. We LOVE you and will truly miss our talks, visits and time together but will hold the memories close in our hearts till we see you again buddy. RIP EARL DOUGLAS SHEDD

He was such a sweet man, I remember going to dollar tree and grabbing him a snack and drink every time he was outside. His eyes would light up and he would always be so thankful. It just won't be the same.
