Joyce worked at Danoka, a sewing plant in Dallas and later at several local establishments as a waitress, before retiring in 2015 after 28 years in nursing administration at Presbyterian Hospital.
She had a passion for taking in stray pets and finding homes for them through her large network of friends. Joyce also loved karaoke on Friday nights and was an avid Elvis fan.
Joyce is survived by her son, Jason Beane and his wife Teresa of Dallas; her grandchildren Seth Stroupe and wife Michaela of Dallas, Kendall Brooks and husband Tyler of Dallas, Kyler Beane and wife Amanda of Cherryville, and Brock Smith of Lowell; and six great-grandchildren: Josie, Langston, Mollie, Charlotte, Gentry, and Levi.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Carothers Funeral Home, 212 W. Trade Street, Dallas, North Carolina.
