Abel was born on February 14, 1964, to Gilbert and Oralia Villanueva in Dallas, Texas. Though Abel was a child born with Down Syndrome, his parents determined he would never see himself as a disabled person. And he never did.
Abel’s siblings embraced him, and affectionately called him Bubba. He attended school just like his brothers and sisters, worked at a warehouse facility, and lived a happy, enthusiastic life.
He made others happy too. At gatherings with a large and loving extended family, Bubba greeted everyone with a heartfelt hug. He enjoyed showing off his latest dance moves with his nieces, nephews and cousins, and he was delighted to break into a spontaneous duet with his Dad.
He is survived by his mother Oralia Villanueva and siblings Sammy and wife Tommie, David, Steve and wife Kim, and Judy. He is preceded in death by his father, Gilbert, and brothers Gilbert Jr, Paul, and Ricky.
Throughout his life, Bubba’s infectious zeal and love touched the hearts those who knew him. He will be greatly missed by many, but most of all by his dedicated mother. She not only gave him the ability and confidence to live a full and rewarding life, but she also taught him to impart love and hope and courage to others.
Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
The Villanueva family would like to thank their family and friends for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
