

Mrs. Addye Veryl Taylor was born, May 18, 1945, in Springhill, Louisiana, to Lucile and L.C. Gilbert who preceded her in death. She was reared in Springhill, by her Grand-parents, the late Dallas Carver and Addie Lee Todd. Addye accepted Christ at an early age, at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church, Springhill. She attended Charles Brown High School, Springhill and was chosen as "Miss Brown High" 1962-1963. Addye retired from Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science, Los Angeles, California and was well known for her literary, culinary, and decorative skills. She also worked in the music fields with Barry White, Jermaine Jackson, Michael Bivins and Debarge. Addye was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Taylor. She leaves to cherish her loving memories to her children, Ms. Yolanda Carol Benton of Long Beach, California, and Dr. Alphonso Benton of Chino Hills, California. Grandchildren: Torean Gardner (Cecy) San Francisco California; Bernell, Malea, and Leilani of Chino Hills, California. She also leaves several siblings to mourn her passing: Robert Valentine (Mary), Shreveport, Louisiana; Pastor Carolyn DeLoach (Pastor Roy), Lancaster, Texas, Clyde Hughey, Little Elm, Texas, Shirley Crocken, Desoto, Texas; Jimmy Gilbert, Jacksonville, Florida; Curtis Mary Gilbert, Los Angeles, California, Alan Gilbert (Twalot) Springhill, Louisiana; Calvin Gilbert (Rose) Richardson, Texas. Two sisters, Darlene and Janet Gilbert, preceded her in death . She also leave to mourn her passing Dallas C. Todd, Jr, Rogers E.T. Todd (Linda), Cornell C. Todd (Beverly) all of Compton, California; Ermalene Todd Robins and Gloria J. Weathers of Suisun City, California; and Betty Mae Samuels (Joe) Paramount, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, classmates and a special friend since elementary school, Rubystene Green. Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away. Psalm 90:10 (NLT)
