Alice Jean Barber Peebles Gault passed into the gates of Heaven on January 29, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents James and Florence Barber, her first husband Sidney Peebles, and daughters Teresa and Susan Peebles. She leaves behind to cherish her memory four sons, John Steven (Polly) Peebles, Christopher (Dixie) Peebles, Gregory (Leisa) Peebles, and Phillip Peebles; grandchildren Jason (Kelly), Stephanie Peebles Fiorisi (Brian), Alex, Lauren, Brandie, Stacie and Ashley, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by her husband, David Gault, and David’s children Richard Gault, Gail Pinon, and Gwen Welch.
Jean was born on March 15, 1927 in Salisbury, N.C., and grew up in Roanoke, Va. where she attended Florence Nightingale High School. Jean married Sidney Peebles on November 28, 1948. The family moved to Dallas in 1962. Jean enjoyed preparing meals for the Sisters at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was an active volunteer at St. Pius X Catholic Church. She loved dancing and traveling, taking many road trips, seeing the country with her husband David. Jean cherished spending time with her family and friends and took special pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 2, at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 3, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Hill Mausoleum North Chapel with Fr. Bruce Bradley officiating.
