Alice grew up in the Dallas area, where she attended church faithfully each Sunday morning and evening, as well as Wednesday devotionals. Her strong Christian faith became the foundation of her life and remained steadfast throughout her years.
At the age of 17, Alice met the love of her life, Herbert Olive. They were married on January 14, 1949, and shared 63 wonderful years together until his passing on December 5, 2012. Together, they built a loving home and raised three children: Joe Allen Olive, Mike Eugene Olive, and Ruth Gale Butler.
Alice was blessed with a large and growing family, including 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
In her early years, Alice worked at a hospital, where she developed a lifelong habit of keeping an immaculate home—especially her perfectly made beds with tightly tucked corners. She later worked for Sears in customer service and gift wrapping, where her talent truly shined. Each Christmas, her beautifully wrapped presents became a cherished tradition, prepared with care and precision.
Alice took great pride in raising her children and helping care for her grandchildren whenever she could. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a steady, comforting presence in the lives of her family.
A faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Alice loved singing old gospel hymns and lived her life guided by her deep and abiding faith. She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching her favorite shows such as The Golden Girls, In the Heat of the Night, and especially M*A*S*H.
Alice had a deep love for plants. Every room in her home reflected that passion, filled with thriving greenery and cuttings carefully growing on her windowsills. She also enjoyed riding horses in her younger years and playing dominoes with family and friends.
Known for her kindness, compassion, and strength, Alice also had a spirited and determined nature. She was headstrong and persistent—if she wanted something done, she made sure it happened. She possessed a creative soul and a talent she often underestimated.
Alice had a special fondness for Diet Dr Pepper, enjoying it daily up until hours before her passing. Her family lovingly joked that she believed it to be her own fountain of youth.
Alice will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her deep love for her family, and the warmth and care she shared with everyone around her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
