Alta Dean Newsom, age 92, July 8, 2023 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on June 5, 1931 in Malakoff, Texas to Horace and Gertrude Owens. Alta was raised in Malakoff and Dallas, where she graduated from Pleasant Grove High School.
She married the love of her life, Kenneth Dee Newsom in 1951 and the couple had two children. Alta made a loving home for her family as a homemaker.
Before Alta's health began to decline, she traveled the world with her beloved husband, enjoyed church activities, playing cards with friends, and was a proud member of the Lions Club. Her family will always remember her as an elegant, classy, charitable woman. Alta loved her family, friends and neighbors dearly. Her life was a life well lived.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ken Newsom; mom and dad, Horace and Gertrude Owens; sisters, Barbara Krajca, Edna Patrick; and brother, Thurman Owens.
Alta is survived by her sister, Bobbie Davis; daughters, Rickie Kule and Cindy Pearson (James); grandchildren, Lindsey Rodriguez (Art), Kendra Simmons (Jason), Jonathan Pearson (Danielle), and Justin Kule; great-grandchildren, Hope Rodriguez, Grace Rodriguez, Kason Mecham, Kason Simmons, Kyleigh Mecham, Kamrynn Pearson, and Jaxson Simmons.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends and neighbors.
