

Ann McConnell Glynn was born on February 2, 1945 in Cody, Wyoming and passed away on August 29, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Brewer and Maxine Timberlake McConnell and brother, Robin. She grew up in Dallas, Tx and was educated in the Dallas public schools (Foster Elementary, Cary Jr. High and Thomas Jefferson H.S.). She attended Southern Methodist University and attained a degree in Speech Pathology. During her senior year she met her husband of 49 years, Jim, on blind date to a Texas A&M/SMU football game. Her working career included various speech pathology positions with the Ysleta ISD and El Paso Rehabilitation Center in El Paso, Tx; Small Schools COOP in San Angelo, Tx; the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and the Cedar Hill ISD. Ann's accomplishments included being named Teacher of The Year at Bear Creek Elementary in 1997/98. Ann loved working with children, especially the “little ones,” and they loved her. Throughout her years as a public school speech therapist, she maintained contact with students that she taught in their early years and followed their progress through high school, college, marriage and parenthood. Among Ann's civic contributions during her years in Grapevine were her service as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission in the early 1980's where the Grapevine City Master Plan was completely revitalized, laying the groundwork for the city as we know it today, and participation as a member of the Grapevine Sesquicentennial Committee in 1986 when the wagon train came to town. Ann is survived by her husband Jim; son Robin Glynn and daughter-in-law Lara and grandsons Reese and Ryan of The Woodlands, Tx and daughter Jamie Scott and son-in-law Todd, grandson Adrian and granddaughter Carly of Bryan, Tx. Ann will be remembered at a visitation from 6-8pm (Rosary at 7:30) on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, Tx. A funeral mass will be held for her at 11:30am on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville, Tx. After cremation interment will be at the DFW National Cemetery at time TBD. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the charity of your choice in Ann's memory.
