His father arrived in America in 1899 and his mother in 1920. They preceded Tony in death, along with his brothers, Leopoldo, Mike, Paul, John, Leonard, Rocky and sister Connie. Tony started his football career at Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, PA, under Coach Pete Demperio. He went to the University of Tulsa where he played college ball under Coaches Bobby and Glenn Dobbs. After his College years he was drafted in the third round by the World Champion Green Bay Packers and coached under Coach Vince Lombardi. He played on the 1963 Chicago All Star team and they defeated the Packers. At the end of training camp he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys where he played for nine years under Coach Tom Landry. Tony played in the Ice Bowl and Super Bowls V and VI. When he retired from football, he worked for Hussmann and then Hill Phoenix. He volunteered and worked with the Retired NFL Players Assoc. Dallas Chapter to build homes for the needy.
Tony is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annette Nail Liscio, son Tony II and wife Tricia Loughridge, daughter Michele and husband Scott Patterson and son Michael Paul Liscio and wife Rhonda Milio. Tony loved to fish and hunt and spend time with his grandchildren, Samantha, Grant and Jack Liscio, Pamela and Kate Patterson, and Arabella and Juliana Liscio. He leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends who will miss his teasing and kindness.
Tony’s years of football contributed to his life ending disease of ALS. In Lieu of flowers please send donations to the ALS association or a charity of your choice. Special thanks to Home Instead, Devante Hoskin, and Senior Helpers, Chester Pemberton, Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care, Kara Miller, and Lucretia Lara. Our difficult journey was made a lot easier with these individuals’ loving care.
