Antoinette Ann Ryan was born on January 6, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan to Eli and Mary Pop. She attended Assumption Grotto Catholic School along with her brothers and sisters, Maxine, George, Gerald, and Elinor.
In 1951, “Ann” met Timothy Ryan of Dublin, Ireland while singing in the General Motors Choir. They married and had two children, Gavin Ryan and Patrick Ryan. “Nana” and “Papa”, travelled the world for business and pleasure and moved the family from Michigan, Ohio and New York, before settling in Argyle, Texas to be near their two sons and four grandsons.
Papa died in 2010, and Nana continued to live in her home on 1½ acres in Argyle, surrounded by wonderful neighbors and friends. In 2024, Nana moved to Prestonwood Court in Plano, to meet new friends in a safe, pleasant, assisted living environment.
In her 98 years, Nana was known as a friendly, selfless person with a strong moral compass and deep faith. She always rooted for the underdog, even when it may not have been in her best interest.
Nana passed away peacefully after a short illness on January 27, 2026, with her family by her bedside.
Antoinette Ann Ryan is survived by her sister, Elinor Izzi of Albany, Georgia; her sons, Gavin Ryan and wife, Debbie of Plano, Texas, and Patrick Ryan and wife Barbara of Buffalo, New York. She is also survived by her grandsons, Connor Ryan and wife Ellie with their two kids, Caden and Harlow of Chicago, Illinois, Brandon Ryan and wife, Alyssa of Chicago, Sean Ryan and wife, Rosanne and son, Jameson of Buffalo, and Michael Ryan and Abby Snelling of Plymouth, Michigan.
We will all miss Nana as she has been an anchor in our lives and participant in decades of birthday parties, sporting events and holiday dinners. Her humor, independence, and love of her family will be missed.
