

Arturo Ricardo Garcia, age 84, went to be with the LORD on January 31, 2025 in Mesquite, Texas. He was born on July 27, 1940 in Laredo, Texas to Dolores Eliodora Alvarez and Juan Antonio Garcia. Arturo was raised in Texas until he was 9 years old.
Arturo served in the Texas Army Reserves starting in 1957, and would serve for 8 years. He married Herminia Salinas in 1959 and the couple had 5 kids. He was a very skillful man. A humble Farm Field worker, machine technician for Paul Mason Winery in San Jose, California.
Arturo began a second chapter of life in Dallas, Texas in 1977 where he met and married his second wife, Maria Guadalupe Martinez Mares. Together they bore 1 daughter in Dallas, Texas. Meanwhile, in Texas, Arturo's dedicated over 20 years as a maintenance engineer for the offices of Frito Lay Company Power Plant.
In his spare time, Art enjoyed family days at the park. His favorite pastime was watching America's Team, the Dallas Cowboys, visiting family and friends, and shopping at local farmers market. Most of all, he enjoyed planning his next trip to San Jose, California to spend quality time with his adult children and grandkids. He loved to ride his motorcycle, note important details on calendars specifying the date time of action, current temperatures using multiple colored highlighters. He liked to collect newspapers of football highlights, round brushes, and uniball gel writing pens.
He will be remembered as a generously helpful man who believed in selfless service to others. His big smile and encouraging words; he knew no stranger.
He is survived by 6 children, 18 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren Mary Jane Oppus and Carlos L. Oppus (2 children and 7 grandchildren); Arturo R. Garcia Jr. and Rosie Garcia (3 children and 3 grandchildren); Alex Roy Garcia and Rowena Garcia(2 children and 1 grandchild; Albert R. Garcia Sr. (4 children and 14 grandchildren); Dolores Andrews (6 children and 9 grandchildren); and Edna Lina Garcia and one granddaughter.
Arturo was a praying man. He loved to get together with his friend to study the bible and pray. He would always send scriptures he was studying and translate the meaning of them to his children.
