Audrey Murriell Cole-Hix, our precious mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was born on December 11, 1930 to Sewell Bryan and Tula Johnny Warren-Cole in Beaumont, Texas. She moved from her frail earthly body into her glorious heavenly body on November 3, 2019 at the age of 88.
Audrey is preceded in death by eight siblings: Benna Louise Cole, Edwin Sewell Cole, Charles Clifton Cole, Mary Ellen Cole, twins Melvin Gene and Mildred June Cole, Betty Jean Cole, and Jack Warren Cole.
She was the faithful love of Clifton Eugene Hix for 54 years, prior to his promotion to heaven in September of 2002. They served together faithfully in ministry for the entirety of their marriage. They met in 1947 when Audrey’s father, Rev. Sewell Cole hired Clifton to play piano for revival meetings. They married in 1948 and were members of Bethel Temple, Dallas, Texas. In 1951, Rev. J.C. Hibbard of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Dallas, hired Clifton as church organist where he eventually became the Minister of Music. For the next 40 years, Audrey would serve in various ministries at the Gospel Lighthouse, including youth Sunday School teacher and adult Bible Class teacher. Her faith-filled walk, along with her passion for souls, allowed her numerous opportunities over the years to minister to hundreds and hundreds of people. Audrey and Clifton would later serve together under Rev. Darrell Pilcher at Faith Christian Center in Dallas, Texas.
Audrey is survived by her four children, Michael Eugene Hix and wife Edee of Ovilla, TX; Donna Murriell Hix-Miller and husband Larkin of Dallas, TX; David Bryan Hix and wife Paula of Palmer, TX; Robert Milton Hix and wife Heather of San Tan Valley, AZ. Her beautiful grandchildren are Mindee Miller-Joslin and husband Scott; Jennifer Hix-Schutz and husband Micah; Mei Miller-Denton and husband Joel; Lori Hix-Sullivan and husband John Clay; Neiman Miller and wife Deborah; Jeremiah Hix and wife Cali, Whitney Hix. She is preceded in death by grandchildren Julie Hix and Aaron Hix.
Being far too young to know just how amazing she was, are her blessed great grandchildren: Michaela Schutz; Elisabeth, David and Clara Denton; John David, Julia, Aulora, Joshua and Nola Sullivan; Audrey and Walden Hix.
The Hix Family celebrates the life of Audrey with memories and songs that portray the life of a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and above all, a servant.
"He'll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good - tears gone,
crying gone, pain gone - all the first order of things . . . gone!"
