Avon P. Johnson

On July 13, 2012, Avon Portwood Johnson left this earth to begin her new life with the Lord. Her husband Travis and son Mark predeceased her. She leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Becky Johnson of Kaufman, Texas, her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara & Wes Pemberton of Scurry, Texas, and her youngest daughter and son-in-law, Mary & William Hughes of Jackson, Mississippi. Avon leaves behind eight beloved grandchildren. They are, Carrie, Tony, Cassie, Dr. Wesley Pemberton, Kyle, Holly, Sydney & Sophie. She has six precious great grandchildren. They are; Caitlin,McKensie, Jayton, Samuel, Zoe, Travis & Tanner. She was blessed with two great-great grandchildren, Lilly & Jeremiah. She leaves behind sister and brother-in-law, Jamie Harold Hatfield; and brother and sister-in-law, James & Dionne Portwood, and nephew Bill Jarrard. Avon was a faithful and long time member of Eastridge Park Christian Church. The family would like to thank her care giver, Jean Garris and VNA Hospice Association. They enabled our Mother to leave this earth behind with dignity and without pain while surrounded with love.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday at Eastridge Park Christian Church, located at 2701 Town East Blvd. in Mesquite, TX.

A visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Sunday at the Grove Hill Funeral Home in Dallas, TX.
