

Beatrice graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, where she was classmates with Carroll Shelby, and went on to Southern Methodist University where she graduated with a B.A. in Journalism. She was married to Harry Weisbrod on February 15, 1948. She served a number of roles in the Hadassah women’s movement including Dallas Chapter and Texas Regional President, and was a much loved and respected elder stateswoman and mentor to younger members. She was a lifelong member of Congregation Shearith Israel, where her grandfather, Frank Kaufman was a founding member.
Beatrice was also a lifelong activist in the Democratic Party and a founder of the North Dallas Democratic Women with her good friends Ann Richards (later Texas Governor) and Betty McCool. Some of her fondest memories were of entertaining United States speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi, and her favorite congresswoman, Eddie Bernice Johnson, at her home.
Her main passion in life was her family. She was particularly proud of her children¸ grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Pauline Lichenstein, her brothers Morris Liston and Simon Lichenstein, and her husband Harry. She is survived by her sons, Carl Weisbrod and Les Weisbrod, daughter-in-law DJ Weisbrod and former daughter-in-law, Jamie Pink, grandchildren Eric Weisbrod (Arwa), Joshua Weisbrod, Esther Weisbrod, Alexis Scheer (Jordan), and Max Weisbrod, and great-grandchildren Hana Weisbrod, Ilyas Weisbrod, Hunter Scheer, Braden Scheer and Maddox Scheer.

A graveside service will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest on Thursday, March 11, at 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be broadcast on Shearith Israel Dallas’s Facebook page.
