

Ben Cox Jr., 87, of Dallas died at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas on October 19, 2012. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend to all that knew and loved him.
He was born on September 17, 1925, the youngest of nine siblings in Dallas, TX to Benjamin Harrison and Beulah Richardson Cox Sr. He graduated from N.R. Crozier Tech in 1947. He was married to Betty Jean Stroud cox for 47 years before her death. Ben was employed by Dallas Power and Light for 38 years in the Electrical Engineering Department. He coached and umpired baseball for 15 years and was an avid golfer and fisherman.
Survivors include his son Douglas Edward Cox of Ennis, TX; a daughter Pamela Jean Smith of Bellview, Florida; four grandchildren, Derek Harrison Cox of Ennis, TX, Heather Remley of Dallas, Matthew and Desiree Lehr of Florida; five great grandchildren and one sister, Betty Gilbert of Canton, TX as well as a host of friends.
A Funeral Service will at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the Chapel of Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, Dallas, TX with beloved nephew David Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the funeral home.
