Billie was born June 20, 1943 in Dallas to Billy and Inez Brandon. She was raised in Dallas and attended South Oak Cliff High School in 1959. She married David Smothermon in 1960. The couple had 3 children during their 16 years of marriage.
Billie worked in the printing and paper industries for most of her career. She started at Business Express Press as a manager in the 70's and would work her way through the industry, with stops along the way at Monarch Paper, Bell Paper, VIP and McCord Printing, concluding her career in the industry, at Unisource. She began her time at Unisource in Customer Service but retired as a Purchasing Agent. That would be her first retirement. As so many do after retirement, Billie went to work at Wal-Mart as a Door Greeter but would quickly work her way up through the ranks of Cashier and CSM until she landed in the Cash Office. She held that position until she retired the second time. All those that knew her during her career adored her and loved working with her. She was a friend to all that truly knew her and would do anything to help someone in need.
Whether you called her Mama, Momma, Honey, Granny, Billie or Billie Sue, you will always remember her as a great dancer, an avid reader, and a champion of video games. She was strong, loving, quick-witted and a caring soul with an infectious smile.
She enjoyed horse back riding, camping, shopping, and in the end, puzzles. She especially loved spending time with family. Everyone also knew her love of animals and her willingness to rescue ANY animal. From bottle feeding sweet Maggie from birth, then spoiling her rotten as she became a faithful furry companion in life, to fostering dogs in later years and even giving them forever homes every time she had the chance.
Faith in God, Family, Friends and Fur Babies were all she needed or wanted in life and was always thankful to have them in her life.
