
Bruce Alan Cunningham, age 87, died peacefully in Austin, Texas on June 23, 2011. Born September 4, 1923 in Huntington, West Virginia, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland and entered flight training in 1945 at the end of World War 11. He was awarded his Navy Wings in 1947 and served as a Lieutenant and Navy Fighter Pilot in the Korean War. In the late 1960's, he began a career in the development of Holiday Inn Hotels in East Texas, which included Longview, Tyler, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, San Augustine and Carrollton. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Constance Cureton Cunningham and his adored daughter, Amelia Lee Cunningham of Longview. He is survived by his loving daughter, Libby Wood of Dallas, his son, Billy Wood and wife Kathy of Marshall, grandson, Alan Blair Cammack of Colorado, granddaughters Mary Wood Laszewski and Kathryn Wood Lee of Dallas, great grandchildren, Owen Dunn, Owen Laszewski,
and Emma Laszewski. The family extends our deepest thanks to all those who loved, helped and supported Bruce throughout his life and especially to John Harrod and Michael Harrell who gave their generous time and love and made Bruce's final years complete.
