

Bruce Turner was born on September 11, 1949, to the parents of Alphonso Turner, Sr. and Annie Laura Turner in Kaufman, Texas. He attended Burnett High School and made history as one of the last all-Black classes to graduate in 1968 before integration. Bro. Bruce went on to serve his country by joining the United States Army in 1969. Where he proudly served and was an active veteran. He expanded his knowledge at Wylie College and went on to start his working career. He had a long tenure at Mead as a machine operator and Union president. After departing, he went on to work for prominent companies such as Dillard’s and Datile. Bro. Bruce was a long-time member of United Church of God In Christ. for many years under the late Elder O.J. Mays and First Lady Ann Mays followed by Pastor and Lady Miller. He later joined Steven Temple assisted by his brother, under the leadership of Pastor Tommie Coleman. He became a member of the brotherhood and enjoyed fellowshipping with the saints. Bro. Bruce gave his life to Christ and believed in God’s miracle working power. He would often testify of God's goodness and favor over his life. Bro. Bruce transitioned on May 13, 2025, an unexpected exit to us but we knew it was not a surprise to God. His journey had been a testament to faith, resilience, and unwavering hope. His affectionate nature will truly be missed for he never met a stranger and was known as everyone's “Uncle Bruce”. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Baby Turner, Annie, Alphonzie, Jr., Terry, and Lee Turner, and stepmother, Faye.
He leaves to cherish his memory, only living brother Charles Turner. Sr. (Edna); his loving niece who cared and took care of him, Lashon Marrable (Terry); stepbrothers, Jeff and Wendell West; uncles, Tommie Coleman and Bruce Earl Turner, aunt, Bobbie Lee; sister-in-law, Angela and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
