Carmella “Carmen” Marie Smith, 95, passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones in Dallas, Texas Friday, August 7, 2020. She was born November 11, 1924 in West Virginia and was the youngest of ten siblings born to Italian immigrants Samuel and Rose DeLuca. She grew up in Pennsylvania and was working for the U.S Navy when she met her husband of 63 years, Lester Robert “Bob” Smith, who preceded her in death by just two and half weeks. Everyone who knew Carmen knows that she loved to dance, sing, and have a fun time. She was actively involved in the Dallas community by serving in Eastern Star, assisting with the Dallas Military Ball on several occasions, and was active in the Sunday school services and class at Schreiber Memorial United Methodist Church.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Smith, her parents Samuel and Rosaria DeLuca, four brothers, Frank, John, Manuel, and William DeLuca, and five sisters, Dolly Audia, Sue Tamburo, Carolyn Polsinelli, Frances Meyers, and Millie Collodi.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Webster, three grandchildren, Christopher Neumeier and wife Meagan, Stephen Neumeier, and Ashley Pedini, and many extended family members and friends.
Services to honor Carmen Smith are postponed at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will be scheduled at a later date.
