On June 23, 1945 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mr. LeRoy Isaac Sr. and Christine Lister welcomed their first born, a baby girl, that they would soon name Carolyn Yuvonne Lister. At the age of 12 after the sudden death of her father, Carolyn, her siblings and her mother would later move back to East Texas to be closer to family. A few years later she would then be blessed with a Bonus father and brother who loved her and her siblings unconditionally.
At the tender age of 15, Carolyn married the love of her life, Charles Earl Greer, and they remained married for 56 years (at the time of his passing). To this union, they had four children. Carolyn attended High School in Center, Texas and college in Dallas, Texas, and later graduated from Southern Bible Institute.
Carolyn retired from The Methodist Health System after 28 years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Griggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. During her membership time, she devoted her time serving as a choir member for the Gospel Choir/Sanctuary Choir, and was a devoted teacher for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School , BTU, and The Children’s Church, and she also worked with the Sunshine Circle Committee alongside two of her dearly and departed friends Odell Harper-Turner and Maggie Williams. Carolyn’s life was always centered around her family, friends, and her church. But her greatest joy was teaching children about the bible. She had a special way of capturing a child’s attention and making each child feel excited about learning. Carolyn loved every child that she had the privilege of working with and they loved her back. She was a magnet that children gravitated to, anytime you saw Carolyn, there would always be a line of children following behind. She always had a positive attitude and spoke positive life into each child; she always reminded her students that if they can dream it, they can achieve it. Her favorite motto was “There are NO bad children, only good children who made bad decisions.” Carolyn’s life came full circle, and because of God’s blessings, he allowed her to see past the promise and witness the fruits of her labor.
Early Thursday morning on January 6, 2022 while sleeping, Carolyn answered the Lord’s calling and received her new body and mind.
