Caryl and family moved to Dallas when he was a young child, and he attended Jesuit and Highland Park High School. Caryl served for a time in the armed forces after graduation, eventually settling back in Dallas where, owing to his good fortune, he met his wife and partner-in-life, Veronica (Yvonne) McNulty.
Caryl and Yvonne were married in 1968 and soon welcomed twin children, Timothy and Tamara.
Caryl had a long career in retail and merchandising with Interstate Brands Corporation, retiring in 2006, after which, he and Yvonne moved to the Frisco Lakes Community where they spent time together with dear friends until Yvonne passed away in 2017 of pancreatic cancer.
An avid golfer and life-long fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Caryl was a sports enthusiast with interests ranging from horse racing to boxing. He and Yvonne liked to travel, including trips to Ireland and Canada to visit family, as well as summers on the boat with Max and Pauline McNaney. In later years, Caryl could often be found on the Frisco Lakes golf course where he enjoyed being a marshal.
A special thank you to the dear friend group at Frisco Lakes for making the last 17 years so special for Caryl. He treasured his time with you, and his great desire in his last months was to resume his life together with you.
Caryl is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Timothy, and his loving wife of 49 years, Yvonne.
Caryl's smiling eyes and ready wit will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter Tamara Bogacz and his son Timothy Chaplin and wife Kelley and his grandchildren Emma Jones and Claire Bogacz and Caroline, Julia, Brendan, and Nicholas Chaplin.
The funeral will take place at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery on Friday, August 1st, at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow for family and friends.
